Avoiding a Wage Garnishment
Obviously a wage garnishment is something you should try to avoid at all costs. The best way to do this is to talk to your creditors to see if you can negotiate a payment plan. Better yet, contact CCCS Orange County and we’ll negotiate for you. Do this BEFORE your creditors decide to take you to court and you’ll have a better chance of working out an agreement. And here’s an inside tip — although creditors are under no obligation to do so, many companies would rather give you the opportunity to repay them directly rather than going through the legal system. Even if you are only able to pay $5 a month, at least you’ll be making progress and avoiding a wage garnishment.
If your creditors are willing to make a repayment arrangement with you, make it a priority to PAY AS AGREED and you’ll come out of this okay. Otherwise, you leave the creditor little choice but to take legal action. Once a judgement has been rendered, it becomes more difficult to convince your creditors to give you another chance. That’s when a wage garnishment becomes a real possibility.
